Role not specified at BlackRock

Hello, I’m Riya Goel. Currently, I’m in my final year of engineering in Electronics and Computer branch at Thapar Institue of Engineering and Technology, Patiala. I belong to a small town in western UP. My hobbies are dancing and teaching kids, as it gives me another level of satisfaction. Having a positive attitude and dedication to do my work on reasonable deadlines are some of my strengths. On the other hand, my emotional nature and getting attached to things easily are my weaknesses.

I would rate the difficulty level of my interview 8.5 (1-very easy, 10-very difficult)

Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

There was one round of online written tests. It was divided into many sub-sections that tested analytical reasoning, aptitude, computer fundamentals, and coding. Each sub-section had different sections and timings. In my opinion, time management had a significant role to play in clearing the written test.

Describe your all Technical Interviews specifying number of rounds and details of each round (if any).

There were two technical rounds. The first round went for about one and a half hours. It was a panel interview as there were two interviewees. They asked me about my projects, questions on finance, Oops, DBMS, coding, and some general questions like where do you see yourself in the next five years.

Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round.

There was only one HR round. They asked me questions about relocation for the job, my family culture, and why I wanted this job. In this round, generally, they test communication skills and confidence.

What were the key factors of your selection?

In my view, some of the key factors for my selection were: 1) Confidence and good communication skills. 2) Good knowledge of all the important subjects and coding.

What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?

In my opinion, a student should also focus on non-technical skills along with technical as they are significant to clear the interview. One should develop confidence and polish their coding skills. Next, they should focus on subjects like Oops, OS, and DBMS.

According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?

Societies play a vital role as they build up your personality, which is very important. Moreover, it helps in expanding your network, know more people and improving yourself each day.
