Software Development Engineer – 1 at OYO Rooms

Being from a middle class family, I believe in hard work. I believe finding your passion is a waste of time and anything you invest your time in becomes your passion. According to me, motivation is a myth and it’s all about the correct habits.

Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)

There was one online round which consisted of questions from dbms, os, aptitude of normal difficulty and in the coding part, there were 2 questions, 1 was from graphs (bfs) and the other was of dp.

Describe your all Technical Interviews specifying number of rounds and details of each round (if any).

I had 2 rounds of in person interview. In the first round, I was asked to check if 2 expression trees were same or not. I’d never tried this question before, so it took me approximately 40 minutes in which I gave him 5-7 approaches which he repeatedly told me to optimise. After that he asked me about re arrange a linked list (1st last 2nd 2nd last …). He then asked me how to find square root of a number without using inbuilt functions. I first told him an O(n) solution and then optimised it to O(logn) He then came back to the first question, and asked me to optimize it even further which I eventually did. I was called for the second round. I was asked questions from OS(Scheduling), real life uses of scheduling, 2 puzzles and other dp questions. I was selected after 2 rounds but some even had 3 rounds.

Describe your all HR interviews specifying the number of rounds and details of each round.

There was no specific HR round but some questions like Introduce yourself or tell me about your resume were there in the technical rounds itself.

Any advice to juniors for the technical skills they should develop?

Most important : DSA THEN : OS, DBMS, C++ Network is not that important but if you’ve time, go for it.

Any advice to juniors for cracking an HR round?

Be prepared with your introduction. Those 90 seconds will make a huge impact on the interviewer. Also while sitting idle, keep on thinking about what to speak during the HR Round.
