Hi!! I’m Aaryan Arora final year electronics and communication undergraduate and currently I’m placed at Open Futures as a Software Developer.

What was the procedure of the placement that took place? (Shortlisting criteria, coding or aptitude test, number of interviews)
1. There was shortlisting criteria based upon CGPA. 2. There was an offline written test. 3. There were total 3 interview rounds.
What was the difficulty level of the interview? (1- very easy, 10-very difficult)

Tell us about the written/online test. (Aptitude, Coding, Test Platform, etc)
here was an offline written test that took place in main auditorium . It consists of 8 pseudo codes . We had to write the whole code on paper and that was the most difficult part . The questions were from Data structures and Algorithms . Some questions were : 1. Sorting 0,1,2 from arrays 2. find -ve and +ve numbers without disturbing the sequence and also there were some MCQ’s questions .
Describe your all Technical Interviews specifying number of rounds and details of each round (if any).
FIRST ROUND: First round was basically the technical round in which they asked me : 1. Introduction 2. OOPS 3. C++ theory 4. Puzzles based on these concepts . SECOND ROUND: The second round was also the technical round in which I had to screen share and do the coding questions given to me .
Tell us about the HR interviews, if any, specifying the number of rounds and questions asked.
There was a HR interview round in which they asked me basic questions regarding me . for example – questions about society , soft skills etc .
What were the key factors of your selection?
I would say that practice was the key factor of my selection, I used to practice a lot of question from different question banks available.
What are the things students should focus on, in order of priority?
According to me, a student should focus on some of the topics (for good placement in such a technical field):- 1. OOPS 2. Logical Reasoning and Aptitude 3. C++ 4. Data structures and Algorithms .
According to you, what role do extracurricular activities as well as participation in societies play?
I was part of many a societies. They do play a substantial role in naturally building your social communication skills and help explore team work and makes you punctual as well. It is always up to you. One can habitually take up a hobby as a part of a role in any society. This will also help you to strengthen your soft skills that further helps you in HR rounds.
Were there any companies you got rejected from after appearing for their interview? If yes, then tell us about your rejection story and what do you think were the reasons for your rejection?
yes I got rejected from two companies : 1. Zynga – reason was lack of practice of coding problems 2. American Express – reason was that the company was based on project management and I was not good in that .
What message would you like to give to your juniors regarding the stress they go through during placement season?
Yes , people go through stress during the time of placement but you need not to worry . everyone gonna get placed one day but I would advice just don’t stop hard working, and don’t let stress to effect your mental health .
